Plants Database (functional)

The Plants Database is an example of how to build out a database. Beginning with a single table, Plants, it demonstrates many of the principles in the Data Solutions manual, expanding the database by adding more tables, forms, reports, and code. The central form is the Plants form, which includes dozens of fields for recording botanical and cultural characteristics. There is also a group of Taxonomy tables for plant nomenclature. Finally, there is a group of tables for organizing the botanical and cultural terminology used in the Plants form.

With each form, there are examples of different controls and code for manipulating the data and the forms. The Filter form is a demonstration of how to use unbound combo boxes and the botanical and cultural data to filter for plants with certain characteristics.

This is the functional version of the Plants database. There are no data or time limits, but the table designs and code are not available. It can be used with both the full version of Microsoft Access or Microsoft Access Runtime.
